Excercise: It took just under 45 mins on the treadmill to burn 300 calories! I did incline intervals (I call it "treadmill hills")
Tonight
on the treadmill was really really rough and I was really surprised.
I was winded, tired, sweating like a bloody pig!! And frankly, I am a
bit discouraged. But I expect that. You have to have realistic
expectations when you are just getting started.
I
plan on doing the insanity fit test tomorrow, and then continue doing
one of the workouts twice a week. That is the plan at least. But I
think due to my rough night on the treadmill, and how sore I am from
my leg workout yesterday, that I may have to rethink the plan. I may
not be able to do insanity for a couple of months.
When
I began my workout sabbatical this spring, I was in great shape. And
silly me, I expected to pick up right where I left off, almost 6
months ago!!! I cannot deny that I am discouraged by my present state
of fitness.
It's
hard for me because I am mentally just as fit and determined as when
I left off, but physically, I am out of shape. And this limits what I
can physically do. This leads me to todays...
Tip
of the Day
I
know it sounds weird, but as challenging both mentally and physically
as it is, starting out, it is important to make a few mental notes of
your body right now. Jot down how you feel after a workout – and be
honest!! Look at yourself in a mirror, wearing only your underwear,
maybe take a picture (keep it just for you). Write down how many push
ups you can or can't do. These things are all important because
although things are rough and suck now, you WILL GET BETTER!
You will see changes in your body, in how you feel, and you
will improve in workout performance and get stronger and faster.
Although it sucks to write down how you are doing or looking or
feeling now, it is important proof for LATER.
At
the very least, take before pictures of yourself. From the front,
back and sides. Take down your starting weight (if weight-loss is
your goal, and maybe even if it isn't), take your measurements. Just
do it! You will be glad later on.
I
have to tell myself this, and I'm going to tell you the same thing;
In the beginning it is going to be hard. You are going to feel weak
and slow and you will struggle with a lot of the exercises. Know now:
that is totally normal and to be expected. It is. It's ok.
Again
just try to remember how you feel now so that when you do make
improvements a week two weeks a month from now you will be amazed at
your progress. Just know you have to start somewhere and at the
beginning it is going to be tough! You'll get sore. You'll make a few bad choices, and slip up a little. PICK YOURSELF UP! It's OK. You fall down, just get up. With your daily food choices. With your workouts. With the little daily habits and activities. Give it 100% of your attention and the hundred
percent of your effort and you will not be sorry. You will see
results over time, just be patient.
P.S. Make sure after your workout, you stretch, drink plenty of water, and have a little snack to fuel your body.
I had a chocolate protein shake. I use ISOPURE - dutch chocolate. Yum yum!
Thanks SO much for reading!
