Day 29: A New Month, A New Plan

So since it is near the end of the first month, I looked at my progress, and at what I still have to go. I'm not a heavy gal, and I don't have a lot of weight left to lose, but I do have some stubborn belly fat that just won't quit, so I'm taking “drastic” measures.

Tip of the Day
Try to always have a water bottle or to-go cup with you, so you can have some fresh, cold water at your fingertips. Also, set a few full glasses out around the house (I set three 16oz glasses on my office windowsill near where I work out and spend a lot of time) as a visual reminder to DRINK MORE WATER and keep track of how much you have left to drink for the day. REMEMBER, you should be drinking at least 64 oz per day, that's 8-8oz glasses or 4-16oz glasses!!

I have revamped the plan and the new plan starts today! Yep, it's one lean & green meal per day (Fish 3x/week, skinny soup 3x/week and spaghetti squash Saturday!), and Insanity 3x/week – the rest of the workout plan is below. Today I did the Fit Test, and saw some great improvement from the last time I did it. Seeing improvement in my ability to do things like push-ups is a great motivator! Seeing changes in my body is great too! Since I started, I've lost 6 lbs!! You may ask “how the HECK did you do that?” Answer: Read my blog. You can see what I did, in terms of exactly what I ate, and how much I exercised, and if you want to see that kind of results, you can do it to!

The idea with eating all this fish, and doing one “lean and green meal” is to lower my carb intake, specifically cutting out wheat bread and things like my delicious mini muffins (sigh, I LOVE BREAD!!) But it will only be for about a month, and if I see the changes that I want to make happening, then I'll know it's working. So let's talk about my first day eating fish – I'll admit, I don't like fish, and eating it for the first of twelve dinners was, well, a little like taking medicine. But I only gagged once, when I was taking the skin off. I figured that just like when I stopped drinking soda for health reasons, this will take a little getting used to, and it will be hard at first. Fish is really good for you, with heart-healthy omega 3 vitamins and the lean protein, coupled with my skinny soup, should be a winning combo for belly-fat weight loss. That's the theory anyway. The first two weeks I will still enjoy my WW bread and make some mini muffins (eaten in moderation), but after 3pm, no grain-based carbs (veggies only- yep, I'm going lean & green!) We'll have to see what happens!

                        EXERCISE                               FOOD - dinners
Monday –         Insanity                                      Fish
Tuesday-          Run or bike 5K                          Skinny Soup
Wednesday-     Insanity                                      Fish
Thursday-         Weight Lifting                            Skinny Soup
Friday-             Insanity                                      Fish
Saturday-         Weight Lifting                             Spaghetti Squash Saturday
Sunday-           Rest day (optional run or bike)   Skinny Soup

I am also going to try something CRAZY (besides Insanity). For the next month, I am only giving myself a $100 food budget, and I'm going to try to make and eat food mostly from my chest freezer - which is FULL! Yep, it's part of a "Eat 'Em If You've Got 'Em" project that I'm doing, trying to use the food I've got already! We will see how that goes :)

Shout out to my coworker Victoria for sending me this post today of Facebook!

"Uggh! Not feeling well! Time to change my lifestyle of eating habits. Time to treat my body right. I need to be healthy if I'm going to become a free diving mermaid! Thanks Megan Schiffner for being a down to earth health guru, who can explain things on normal person level!"
