Day 43: Eating and Shopping on the Go

When I spend time with my family, my mom and I will often go out, running, errands, window shopping and going thrift store shopping. That's my favorite! We spent more than four hours running around, including stopping at one of our favorite stops: Chase Me Again! It's a super fun little thrift store and has a partner antique store right next door. I did buy one little treasure, but I'll have to share about that later. With all of our time spent away from the house, we got pretty hungry. I will always have a Luna bar in my purse, and I often have an apple also.

But when you need more than a snack, you will have to chose wisely from the temptations available at fast-food places.
Today's challenge; Wendy's!

I chose a half-size chicken, apple-pecan salad. The salad had big pieces of chicken, red and green apple, blue cheese, and pecans with a red-wine vinaigrette dressing. While lettuce and spinach are virtually calorie-free, everything else adds the calories on. So, I lightly drizzled the dressing on, and only ate about half of the blue cheese and pecans. For fast-food, it was pretty good! As stated in the rules of eating fast food, I stuck to the rules of ordering a salad with grilled chicken, I lightly (and controlled) drizzled the dressing on, and I went inside and sat down to eat.

I DID however, chose a small frosty to be my snack for the day. It was worth every bite! :)

For dinner, I was still on the road, driving back home to Washington, so I stopped
in my favorite place to get healthy eats on the go: Subway! I chose a turkey BLT. And although they had a drive-through, I stuck to my rule of "when eating on the go, go inside and sit down to eat".

One rule with Subway, when I get foot long subs, before you start to eat, immediately pull one half of the sandwich out, and then wrap the other half for later! If I don't, I'll eat the whole thing. Obviously, I nearly ate my whole sandwich before I could take this picture :)

Also, on the way home, I stopped by Grocery Outlet to get some groceries for the week.

What was on my list?

a bag of apples
a bag of grapefruit
a bag of shredded cabbage
a bag of mini bell peppers
a bag of nectarines
Broccoli
Eggs
3 avocados
Oatmeal

Total cost $25.97
Monthly budget spent to date: $47.64
Budget money remaining $52.36

AND I snacked on some of the veggies on the way home!

EXERCISE
While I did not plan a purposeful and specific workout today since today was the last day of my time spent visiting my parents, I did get in all my activity points, mostly running around in the nice autumn weather with my dog, Bear.
