Day 58: Excuses, Excuses!

Hey friends! So one of my favorite, healthy & hearty lunches thus-far is today's! I had split pea soup, sliced turkey, and mini bell peppers. NO carbs! It was delicious, hearty and filling, and if I didn't feel great about there being no processed carbohydrates, then noticing what my co-worker was eating (an egg McMuffin and hash brown patty, both deep fried, fat and salt saturated) I definitely had a "healthier-than thou" moment :). I've felt good about food and prep, but horrible about post-dinner snacking and I have really been struggling with consistency and commitment to working out.

I also have had some strange rumblings in my tummy, and feelings of being bloated. Tonight I made home made sushi with tuna, avocado, mango and egg, and while all the fillings were healthy, the rice was enriched, long-grain white rice, and it left me feeling like a blimp. Now, this may be partially due to my premenstrual stuff, but I really think it has everything to do with rice, and the fact that even after you cook it, if you eat too much and then drink water, it'll continue to puff up and cause bloating. ALSO, I felt an adrenaline rush-type heart-racing sensation. Yikes! I don't think I'll be eating much rice in the future.

FOOD
Breakfast: 2 HBE's, 3 mini muffins, and a cup of tea

Snack: fresh pineapple, a HBE, 2 mini muffins
Dinner: home made sushi and a 1/2 cup of jello with whip cream

EXERCISE
Nothing, neil, nada!

In all fairness, I was intending to workout before my hubby got home from work, but we had a rapid-fire series of events that  distracted me and eat up my free time this evening.

When I got home, I was instantly drawn to the sound of a small-sounding dog's bark coming from my neighbor's house. Well, she doesn't have a dog, but she does have chickens. I thought maybe my baby-bear had gotten out and was chasing her chickens. Not so. It wasn't my dog, but indeed a long-haired wiener dog, barking wildly, and jumping up at, trying to get the chickens who were secure in their coop. The next hour was spent trying to catch the dog, calling animal control, attempting to find the owner by knocking on doors, meeting lots of neighbors, finding the owner, calling back animal control, and chasing the dog again, when he got out again and went after the chickens again.

At about the mid-way point, I also got a call form someone interested in a piece of furniture that I was selling on craigslist. After arranging the meet and pickup time, and juggling dogs, I had another interruption of a young neighbor girl knocking on the door, asking if we had any yard work for her to do. Soon-after, the buyer showed up, and the furniture was loaded, the dust finally settled, we caught our breath, and then planned to invite friends to go out to dinner. When those plans fell through, that left me to make dinner in a hurry. It was about 6:30 at this point. Whew! So, excuses? Yeeah, but I think that was a pretty good excuse.

Thanks for reading all!
