Day 57: Real Life Sets In


Folks, let me tell you right now, I am STRUGGLING! Having my man back is really distracting! I've been doing ok with food, just ok. But with exercise, I've completely lost the plot. I need to get back into it.  I miss it, or at least certain elements of it.

PLUS, being this close to Halloween, and the holidays, there are TONS of temptations staring me in the face at every turn.






Today's Temptations


Someone brought tootsie rolls to work, and they were sitting, staring at me all day! Good thing for clients, so I didn't have to sit in the break room for too long. Then, after work, I went to the store. They had THREE different kinds of holiday flavored big, FAT ice cream sandwiches. Yup, that's right. Egg nog, chocolate mint and peppermint! YUM! Did I mention I LOVE ice cream sandwiches? Yikes!

Good thing I planned ahead. Before I left for work this morning, I put a few ingredients into the crock pot, to make dinner super simple. I got to come home to the warm, inviting smell of Split Pea and Ham soup! YUM!!



Creamy Crock-Pot Split Pea and Ham soup
Ingredients:
2 cups dry split peas
1 1/2 cup cooked ham, cubed
1 cup chopped onion or 2 tbs dried onion
1 cup chopped celery
1/4 tps pepper
2 cups broth
3 cups water
salt to taste

Directions
Layer the ingredients without stirring. 
Cook on low for 8-10 hours or high for 6-8 hours. 
Stir and serve! Easy-peasy!!



After youth group, I met Jason and some friends at the corner bar. We live way out in the counry, but about a minute or two from this little, local bar, and in the six years we have lived here, I have never been in, until tonight. We played some darts, I had an Angry Orchard beer, and we called it a night. 


Tip of the Day

Remember, BEER has about as many calories as a small snack. Yup! My Angry Orchard was 210 calories! Yet another good reason not to drink your calories. Especially beer, since they go down so easy :) And beer clouds your judgement to not eat or drink more calories than you should. Eventually, you just say **** it, and before you know it, you've drank and/or eaten your entire DCI in one shot. If you are going to drink, have ONE beer, and really enjoy it!

FOOD
Breakfast: 2 HBE's, pumpkin oatmeal and a pear
Lunch: Quinoa & BB stew, 
Snack: string cheese and a few spiced pumpkin muffins
Dinner: Split pea soup and 1/2 a sourdough roll
"Snack": an Angry Orchard beer with darts :)

EXERCISE
I'm trippin' yo! No exercise today. I've GOTTA get back on the wagon!
