Day 56: Room for Error

Today's Temptation

The day was laced with all kinds of goodies, most of which I successfully turned down. The ones I avoided; banana bread (that a friendly coworker

brought in), and the entire food section at Ross', including my favorites - Jammie Dodgers :) and the food I didn't do well against? Read on dear friends, read on..

This is "homecoming/honeymoon" week, so unfortunately I am not at the top of my game. Just sayin' in advance.

I have determined that while my husband was gone, I was a hermit! My routine was very predectable and simple. The "homecoming" has shown that there are new challenges in play, and I don't even have kids, so I give mad props to those of you who do.

Today, I got up and made breakfast for my hubby, packed both our lunches, loaded our truck with a load to Goodiwll and a load to the dump, and then headed off to work - which was busy! I ran errands afterwards, came home with just enough time to relax and figure out something for dinner, and then went with the Hubs to some friends's house to watch the Seahawks game!

Food went well until the football get-together. We ate before we left, but there were just too many temptations to resist, and the game was very stressful... so I did a little, or a lot of social and emotional eating, BOTH which I regret. I am, however, giving myself a few day's grace because of my husband coming home, but by Wednesday, I've gotta get back in the game!

FOOD
Breakfast: two HBE's and 3 mini muffins (the last of), and a pear
Lunch: the other half of the craft 2 sized naked burrito bowl and some mini peppers
Snack: applesauce
Dinner: 1 cup Doc's chilli (good choice) and some chicken tenders (NOT a good choice) - I felt pretty gross within a half an hour after. They were breaded, and some of them tasted like nothing at all. So I dipped them in sauces. I should have stopped right there.
Snack: "several" spiced maple chocate chip cookies. NOT a good choice, since they are not at all healthy, and afterwards I feel gross.

Tip of the Day
I take today's tip from one of my favorite Disney-Pixar movies - Ratatouille; one of the great quotes from this movie actually. There is an exchange between the protagonsit, Linguini, and the seeming-antagonist, and intimidating food critic, Anton Ego.

Ego: You're slow for someone in the fast-lane.
Linguini: and you're thin for someone who likes food
Ego: I don't "like" food, I LOVE it! If I don't love it, I don't swallow!

Although (at the time), a bit of a meanie, Anton Ego gives us a great peice of advice- one I should have followed with most of the chicken nuggest I ate at the football party. They tasted like nothing, so I dipped them in both honey-dijon dressing and BBQ dressing. It didn't really help, but I kept eating. I shouldn't have. If what you are eating doesn't taste good, (more specifically, if you are indulging in something that you THINK is going to be good, and turns out to be disappointing), it isn't worth the calories. If you don't love it, DON'T SWALLOW!  You can chew the food, but then spit it out, and then maybe you'll stop and realize that you shouldn't be eating it in the first place, and go and make a better choice. It's like another line from the movie (or maybe just the trailer)

Remy: What are you eating?
Amille: I don't really know.
Remy: You don't know..and you're eating it?
Amille: If you can just muscle your way through the gag-reflex, all sorts of food possibilities open up for you.
Remy: No no no! Spit that out right now! Augh! I have GOT to teach you about food!

Lesson to learn- enjoy what you are eating, maybe then you will be more discerning and not just eat crap and get fat... like Amille

EXERCISE
I didn't work out today. No real excuse, other than being really busy, spending time running errands, at home with the Hubs, and at a football party. I'm giving myself a few days grace.

Don't think I should? Leave a disapproving comment, that's ok, just keep the comments coming!

Thanks for reading all!
